Here I start to write some lines of text about the things, I see, which are important to tell to all of you. This is not a political page even if I sometimes may give a little critics.
Nuclear power station to Pyhäjoki
13.10.2011
Last week we got decision of Fennovoima about the location of the new nuclear power station in Finland. Until the last day there were two alternatives, Pyhäjoki and Simo. And for our success, the place is now PYHÄJOKI. I was in the meeting in our technical school "Raahen AIKU", when this decision was published in the TV and radio. The people in the school were very happy and the leader of the school offered coffee and bread for all the people.
This decision will have a very large positive effect on the economy of the Raahe region and its influence reaches nearly whole Northern Finland.
I as a developer of the metal workshop industry have a target that our companies could get benefit of this project.
Students of the model 1970 from Oulainen
10.10.2011
2nd of July 2011 was a day of many old memories for me and our school girls and boys from the year 1970 when we finished the secondary school and got students white cap everyone. It was really 41 years ago ! With great interest and a little nervous were the feelings just before we go to the meeting which happened in our old school. I had met only few of these old friends during these 41 years. I was very happy to see girls and boys from "language class A" and "mat class B". Everyone was telling "the story of the life" and there were really all phenomenons of the life to hear. We were happy and many very human meetings happened during that day.
Nuclear forces
26.04.2011
There are three different forces in a universe: nuclear forces (largest energy), forces between atoms and gravity (lowest energy). Nucleus of the atom consists of protons and neutrons and very strong nuclear forces keep these "particles" together. Material consists of different atoms and the medium high forces keep the atoms together so that materials are in a solid state. The universe consists of the materials and between material pieces gravity exists. The larger is the materials amount (like sun, earth etc.) the more force between them exists. Gravity keeps the universe together.
In the classical physics, these forces and rules for them have been dealt differently, like there would exist different "force universes". During the latest decades, physics has started to deal these forces to be under the same rules, and universe by that way as one.
A very interesting book about this is:

Power of the wood
02.02.2011
Finland has nowadays lot of forest to be used in the new applications. One of them is energy. In Finland wood has been used traditionally as an energy source very effectively simply by burning it in a fire place directly without efficiency losses to change first the energy to electricity and then using "electric heating" - very stupid way ! To day Finland has developed many effective ways for direct burning of the wood.
In old days, "miilu" (tar-burning) was also effective way to make useful products from wood, you got coal and tar. These products could be used both as an energy source and in boat and ship building.
"Bio-petrol" is one of the most famous products made of the wood.
We have now lot of smaller threes in our forest and unused land. Our machinery to get this wood material from the forest is not suited for this purpose. New forest machine constructions would be big step here.

Power of the wind
Finland is talking about wind power, Sweden is making wind power. Now the local newspapers tell that star of the popular music, Jari Sillanpää, is investing to the windpower in Raahe with his investing company. This is positive development in the region. JS will be a good model to the other people having idea to use their money to something new, future business. This nuclear time needs also some innovators to create new, even its capasity is still small.
Wind power station is relatively effective and simple way to produce electric energy, because the wings change the energy of air of wind directly to the rotating form. This rotation is easy to change to the electric energy with generator.
Theoretically, wind has very large power, but how to collect this energy ? What will be the technology to collect power of wind and waves of the sea ? We are in the starting point in that. The wings, which wind power stations to day have, can collect very-very small % of the power, which the wind has. Here would we have challenge for the engineers, to develop new technology ! I have ideas - but let speak later, more detailled abot it. :) Do you have new ideas, to build "new times" wind power stations ?

China is a superpower
In the earlier world (after the II World War), the countries which made lot of steel, were the most advanced and they had highest living standard. They made cars, machines etc. and even exported these products of high living standard to the small groups of people in the developing countries. It was that time. Now there are still countries in the world which haven't gone through this phase of history. One of them is China.
China made 36 % of worlds steel in 2007, Japan ca 9 %, USA ca 7 %, Russia ca 5 % etc. these are the four largest in the world. The population in China is so large that they are still in the starting position compared that of Europe, in steel consuption/inhabitant. The development of steelmaking grew in China so rapidly that it drastically increased prices of raw material, iron. This made that all possible iron mines will be opened, which has also reflected in the activity in the Northern Countries, Sweden and Finland.

Cooperation in the Raahe Region
Now I have worked actively about a year to get advances in cooperation between diffent operators in the Raahe Region. The target of this cooperation is to develop metal work shops to have own products and high level production technology. As a potential partner has been the "Adults Education Center, Raahen Osaamiskeskus Oy. On the background of this cooperation is the business development group of Raahe town, so called "Elinkeinoryhmä", which cosists of the different operators, in which Raahe town is as share holder. I really wonder unability of Oulu Polytechnics, OAMK, to have cooperation on metal product business area with other operators in Raahe. They only want to have only their own way.
On the front "sunny side" of this cooperation conversation is to "speak positively" but on the other "shadow side" are the people which feel that they will loose if cooperation will be realised. There are lot of people who speak different thigs as the really do.
If you have something about this in your mind, please this channel is free, write into the Visitors book.

We were 1.8.2010 in the baroque music concert of Antti Tikkanen (violin), Markku Luolajan-Mikkola (viola da gamba) and Petteri Pitko (cembalo) in the old church of Kempele. It was an excellent experience of something great which music can give. The atmosphere in the historic building with the music bridge over 300 years was for me "an unforgettable" moment. see www.oulunsalosoi.fi and www.evl.fi/srk/kempele/vanhakirkko.htm

Internet is a good source of knowledge. I found a very good photo which tells more than 1000 words can tell ! Here is it.

This week has brought me positive signals from the entrepeneurs. First signals of starting positive economical developments are getting visible. I'm sure, the people in the companies know what to do. Work for right targets is only way to get the economy to grow again. This time the companies have learned new playing rules of the market when globalisation has brought new competitors also to their home fields. Risks of the market will be long time in mind.
I was very happy to see that the company Obas in Oulu had taken very large step of growth, having joined other companies to itself. Now the company has according to Kaleva ca 250 people working in it and has positive market potential in the growing neighbour, Russia. Gratulations to the CEO Mika Rytky and the old and new owners !

Latest weeks as so many weeks before these have again shown me how decision making happens in the democracy as it is in Finland and public discussion among finnish people.
For example in the decision of nuclear power, the "2 stations" means statistically, that nearly all the people are unhappy. Maybe for finnish people is best that nobody (at liest neighbour) will get his/her opinion through, except "Mr Minister". There has not been neutral data available about the need of energy and the technology (environmental etc). This practise made that the people think "yes or no", on the other bases than the need of energy etc. So the opinion of the people is only "opinion", which doesn't base on the facta information. Why this happens as it happens, we'll see in the future. I promised not to speak about politics.
The similar happens in the joining process of the municipalities. Initial reason is the economy of the municipalities and it's the only reasoning. But very few facta and economical calculations are available about it, what happens economically in joining. So when the people discuss about joining one has undefined economy, one has home social things in mind. So, again you are in the "yes-no" situation and reasoning from the different points, actually unreasoned. Again, I promised not to tatch politics.
Actually, we can find these "Wise Men" on the all levels in the society. They have opinions without reasoning. They could be able to reguire reasoning from other people, but they don't need it. For whom this situation is for ? Is it for those who make decision and make the reality and existense of it ? This is not politics. It is relevant in all of the human societies, or is it ?
Open discussion about the content and cooperation would be the future !

The people speak about this time like the time in 1930's when lot of people from Finland moved to other coutries, even to Soviet Union, because there was not work in Finland and therefore families without land had problems even to get food to eat. In the countryside the situation was not as difficult because people had the most important there; food and house. Now the people of Finand know more about the other coutries, so they know, what is the situation in the other European, western coutries and Russia. To day nearly nobody has "own land" to get most important from there, therefore people are "homeless" without work.
The situation with knowledge is opposite with China and India instead. Even when globalisation goes on all the time, China and India have remained a little unknown and mystic for usual Finnish people. The understanding about these countries is very standardised. The imagination is that these countries are a great possibility, not so much for the individual western people, but for the companies. Because thinking of the working Finnish people goes round money, the people are not sure what to do. Some of them want to go to China or even India with the companies, with their working places.
The Finnish people who have contacts with Chinse and Indian people, feel that they are very nice and friendly people. I believe, in some period, if the economically difficult time in Finland continues, more and more Finnish people will move to China, India and other economically growing countries. I hope we could keep Finland as a pieceful and safe country, in all meaning, so that it would be our benefit.

In this situation, all organisations like municipalities, develpoment and educational organisations are now thinking new way for the finnsh future. We here in the north have very long experience of using our natural resources like forest (wood), maining, metal industry, water power and now also wind power as well as farming. We have also been with in the business of our neighbour countries Sweden and Russia.
My opinion is, to be able to control risks, these "own" base resources should be one important basis to make the focused finnish role to global markets. Of course new soicial and technological innovations also connected to the arctic environment would also be the strong area of the finnish contribution to the global life.

During gone week I saw the time changing more competitive in the metal industry. I hope we don't loose our love to our country and people. We should find our unik way to make our future in all cooperation, so that the egoism wouldn't grow.
I hope, all nations could grow their own way and make cooperation with each others. We here close by the arctic climate need our own specialities, but we have also lot of the similarities with the people in other countries; like food, clothes, houses, social environment etc. Also our principal need of work is similar all over the world.

This week has brought disappointed thoughts to the mind of many people in the Raahe region, because of the information of the Oulu region eductional organisation informed to finish its take-in of the students to its local unit in Raahe. It started the education in Raahe in 2006 and now we get information that it is gradually decreasing the activities.
Of course the problem of these type of organisations in Finland are very well known, because it has not been able to find its role between vocational education and university level of education. In Oulu region, the University of Oulu is very strong research and eductional organisation. On the other hand there is very competitive vocational schools on the regions Oulu and Raahe, so the competition is very hard.
It was informed that the organisation save the activities in making specialised courses and final thesis activities in Raahe. So the small "flame is showing light".
We have good network of educational organisations in the Raahe region:
www.raahenao.fi , www.raahenaakk.fi , www.lybecker.net , www.rpkk.fi , Industrial vocational institute of Ruukki www.ruukki.com
And in 70 kilometers we have University of Oulu www.oulu.fi and Polytechnial high school of Oulu www.oamk.fi

I woked up this morning in my summer cottage. I had eaten my breakfast and started to make coffee, when I heard small sound from the veranda. I opened the door out and saw "a friendly small living being" like this standing there:

He was very timid and was runnig away. Maybe he was helping his master in hunting and the master was somewhere waiting him. Maybe he only wanted to have a wellcome address to me, who knows.
14.1.2010 Antero
I work for making success of the metal industry in Raahe region and northern Finland. We are many organisations also in Raahe region to help the companies making metal products; educational, R&D and "real estate" companies. I want to develop cooperation between these organisations so that the effeciency of the help for the companies could increase. Every organisation should find their role in this help giving. I want to make good future for this region, because I feel, here is my home. Metal is our first "modern" way to live since 1918.
I hope frankly cooperation to all for the year 2010 !
Later there is coming India, which made only ca 3.5 % of words steel in 2007.
Bio energy
Finland has lot of forest, which has traditionally been used as a raw material in the building and paper industry. Now the paper industry of Finland is gradually moving to the countries, where raw material, labour costs and energy has lower price. However the wood material in our forests is growing on the record speed. This wood has very big potential as a source of energy, in many ways. Traditionally, wood has been used in a fire place as a heat source. Actually it has been very effective way to get energy direct and simply way with low efficiency losses. Any way more clevel than to change the content of material first to electricity and then use electric heating, very complicated.
